Registration Opens for the 43rd Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship
Golfers worldwide are now invited to register for the 43rd annual Play Golf Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship. Set to attract an estimated 3,000 participants, this prestigious event transforms Myrtle Beach, renowned as the “Golf Capital of the World,” into a hub of world-class golf and camaraderie from August 31 to September 4, 2026.
The 72-hole tournament promises an exceptional experience, unfolding across more than 50 of the Grand Strand’s finest golf courses. Designed for inclusive competition, the championship features 12 divisions and over 60 competitive flights, all managed by a rigorous and verified handicap system. This ensures that players of all skill levels, ages, and genders compete fairly, fostering a truly level playing field.
Kyle Oland, director of marketing for Golf Tourism Solutions, emphasized the event's unique appeal: "The World Am transcends a typical tournament; it's an unparalleled golf experience where intense competition meets vibrant community and connection. It's a gathering that unites the global golf community. From the challenging rounds to the spirited nightly celebrations at the 19th Hole, participants are encouraged to arrive as they are and depart feeling like a legend."
Early bird registration offers significant advantages. Those who register by March 31, 2026, will be entered into an exclusive drawing for over $25,000 in prizes, including premium golf gear and exciting travel packages. The early entry fee of $649 covers four rounds of tournament play on championship courses, a participant gift bag valued at nearly $300, and nightly admission for both the participant and a guest to the famed "World’s Largest 19th Hole." This special early entry period concludes on April 15, 2026.
The social heart of the tournament beats at the 120,000-square-foot Myrtle Beach Convention Center, home to the "World’s Largest 19th Hole." Here, attendees can enjoy open bars, indulge in cuisine from top local restaurants, experience live entertainment, and explore an expansive golf exposition. Popular golf content creators St. Andre will return to host the nightly festivities, joined by other special guests, including South Carolina natives George and Wesley Bryan from The Bryan Bros.
The championship culminates on Friday, September 4, 2026, with flight winners advancing to the Championship Round at Grande Dunes Resort Course, all vying for the esteemed title of World Amateur Champion.
Given its status as one of amateur golf's most significant events, spots are highly coveted and expected to fill rapidly. The tournament field is strictly limited to the first 3,000 registered golfers. Aspiring participants are strongly advised to register promptly to secure their place in this unforgettable championship.
