Bologna Eyeing Estudiantes Midfielder Mikel Amondarain for €9 Million
Reports from Italy and Argentina suggest that Bologna is nearing an agreement to acquire the services of Estudiantes' creative midfielder, Mikel Amondarain, for a fee of around €9 million.
The 21-year-old is highly regarded in his home country and is a product of Estudiantes' youth academy, having been promoted to the senior team last year. This season, he has showcased his talent with four goals and three assists in 23 appearances for his club.
Amondarain on Bologna's Radar
According to multiple Italian sports outlets, including Corriere dello Sport, Tuttomercatoweb, and Sportitalia, Bologna's initial offer of €8 million was turned down. However, ongoing negotiations are reportedly narrowing the gap to meet Estudiantes' €9 million valuation.
Amondarain's tactical flexibility allows him to be deployed in various roles, including in a midfield three, as a defensive midfielder, or on the right wing. Previously a striker in his youth, he is now considered a box-to-box player capable of both attacking runs and defensive support.
His current contract with Estudiantes is valid until December 2028.
