Bologna Targets Lorenzo Lucca Following Underwhelming Spells at Napoli and Nottingham Forest
Italian club Bologna is reportedly showing renewed interest in Lorenzo Lucca, the Napoli-owned striker. Lucca is expected to return to the Stadio Maradona after a largely unproductive six-month loan period with Nottingham Forest.
Bologna's Continued Interest in Lucca
According to Italian sports daily Gazzetta, Bologna has revived its pursuit of the Italian forward. The Rossoblu previously attempted to sign the former Udinese striker on two occasions: four years ago and again during the most recent January transfer window.
Back in 2022, Lucca chose to join Ajax from Pisa despite an offer from Bologna's Stadio Dall’Ara. More recently, last January, Nottingham Forest presented the most compelling offer to secure him on loan from Napoli.
The Gazzetta further suggests that Bologna is open to listening to offers for their current striker Thijs Dallinga next summer. Lorenzo Lucca is considered one of the primary candidates to potentially replace the Dutchman.
Lucca’s performance during his loan at Nottingham Forest has been modest, with only one goal scored in seven appearances since his move in the January window. Prior to that, he had registered the same goal tally in 23 games for Napoli in the first half of the campaign.
While Gazzetta indicates Lucca's future at Nottingham Forest is uncertain, previous reports have suggested that the Premier League club is unlikely to make his transfer permanent once the season concludes.
