Conflicting Reports on Martinez Price Tag, Juventus and Aston Villa Far Apart
There are ongoing, conflicting reports regarding the negotiations between Juventus and Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez. Some sources suggest that a fee of €7 million might be sufficient, while others indicate that a significantly higher sum will be required.
It is widely known that Juventus has identified the goalkeeper as a key target. Martinez is currently preparing for the World Cup quarter-final match between Argentina and Switzerland.
The player himself appears eager to move to Turin. Approaching 34 years old in September, he has been with Aston Villa since his €17.4 million transfer from Arsenal in 2020.
Martinez reportedly met with Juventus directors and was highly impressed with their proposal, which included appealing terms regarding salary and the club's overall project.
According to Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio, the initial asking price of €15 million has reportedly dropped to the €6-7 million range.
However, Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, insists that Aston Villa is unwilling to accept such a low figure for a goalkeeper of Martinez's caliber. He maintains that if such an offer were made, Villa would prefer to retain Martinez, especially considering his contract extends until June 2029.
Romano also reiterates earlier reports suggesting that should Martinez depart, Aston Villa would then pursue Parma and Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who is also reportedly a target for Leeds United.
