Pisilli Reflects on Roma's 'Difficult' Lecce Win, Confident Italy 'Deserves' World Cup Spot
Roma midfielder Nicolò Pisilli reflected on the team's narrow 1-0 victory against Lecce and shared his thoughts on Italy's crucial World Cup play-off, emphasizing the need for courage: "We must not be afraid."
Despite Pisilli having a goal disallowed, Roma secured a 1-0 win against Lecce, with Robinio Vaz scoring his debut goal for the club.
"It was a very challenging match," Pisilli admitted to Sky, acknowledging that "we had expended significant mental energy on Thursday, yet we still managed to secure the desired outcome."
The Spanish full-back Angelino marked his return to play after several months on the sidelines. He had been sidelined since September 28 following an early-season diagnosis of asthmatic bronchitis.
Pisilli expressed his delight at Angelino's comeback: "We are all happy he’s back. He's a wonderful person who always strives to perform at his best. We hope he can gain more playing time in the latter stages of the season."
Pisilli is also a member of the Italian national squad preparing for next week's pivotal World Cup play-off.
The 21-year-old midfielder conveyed a message of confidence for the national team: "We must be confident. We are Italy, and we must not be afraid. We deserve to participate in the World Cup. I'm used to seeing Italy at the World Cup, and I truly hope that will be the case this summer."
