Roma's Wesley Sent Home by Brazil Due to New Injury
AS Roma's winger, Wesley, has been prematurely excused from his international commitments with Brazil after sustaining an injury during a recent match against France, where he was in the starting lineup.
Brazilian national team coach Carlo Ancelotti had selected Wesley to feature in the starting eleven for the previous night's friendly encounter, which saw Brazil fall 2-1 to France. Wesley was substituted by Roger Ibanez in the 71st minute.
During the game, both Wesley and fellow squad member Raphinha reported experiencing discomfort in their right hamstring areas.
Wesley's Injury During Brazil Duty
An official announcement from the Federation's website confirmed that diagnostic tests revealed muscular injuries for both players. Consequently, they have been sent back to their clubs to commence treatment and recovery.
No additional players have been summoned to fill their spots for Brazil's upcoming friendly fixture against Croatia, slated for Tuesday evening.
Wesley has made a notable impact since joining Roma last summer, contributing with four goals and two assists across 35 competitive appearances.
This season, he has contended with several minor muscular issues, with the most recent one occurring in December. Therefore, the full extent and severity of this latest injury remain to be determined.
