Napoli's Lobotka on unusual goal: 'I don't know what I was doing up front'
Stanislav Lobotka, Napoli's midfielder, admitted he was far from his usual position when he scored the decisive goal in their win against Bologna. He joked that ending up in the penalty box is not a common occurrence for him.
The Slovakia international spoke to Sky Sport Italia after his crucial intervention at the Stadio Maradona. This marked his fourth goal for the club since joining in 2020, with a record of four goals in 244 appearances.
“I haven’t scored many goals for Napoli; it would be nice if we got three points with every goal I score,” Lobotka said, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb. “I’m pleased with this victory. We played well as a team.”
Lobotka was quick to credit his teammate for the assist, whose cross from the wing found him.
“Of course, I’m very happy,” he stated. “I don’t know why I was up there; I don’t normally do that. But I saw no one was around, and [teammate's name] delivered a great ball. I also got a bit lucky, but that never hurts.”
The goal concludes a strong performance for Lobotka, who has remained a consistent player for Napoli amidst their changes this summer.
