Fabregas: Como is Learning, Seeing Our Potential

Cesc Fabregas views Como's win over Parma as a crucial response after their Champions League match. He stated, "I’m beginning to grasp what we can develop into."

The team achieved a 4-1 victory against RB Leipzig in their historic first Champions League game on Thursday. Concerns lingered about how Como would manage with their resources strained.

“Some players were clearly tired. We made adjustments, and I appreciated how others stepped up from the bench,” Fabregas shared during his press conference.

“This was a significant reaction from the team. It shows I can count on everyone. I’m very pleased with the performance. This victory is important for me as a coach; I’m starting to see the kind of team we can become.

“This season brought many new challenges. When a team has 31 shots on target and scores just once, they anticipate opponents strengthening their defense. This, in turn, risks conceding, which is what happened.”

Fabregas witnessed new players in action that evening, including Kaiki, who scored the second goal.

“He’s already represented Brazil, demonstrating his quality and considerable potential to aid us. He genuinely enjoys the defensive aspect, as seen today. He will gradually adapt to meet our expectations.

“In today's football, scoring defenders are vital. Arsenal’s Premier League title was largely built on goals from defenders and set pieces. Adding this capability provides a distinct advantage.”

Despite it being a Serie A fixture against Parma, Fabregas's final whistle celebration rivaled the intensity seen after the Champions League match.

“My celebration reflected the importance of this game. It was crucial for me to observe the players' mindset following a Champions League fixture,” he explained.

“If we falter for 40 minutes at the required level, the game becomes exceptionally difficult.”

Moise Kean made his first start, taking the forward position from Tasos Douvikas, who transferred from Fiorentina.

“Douvikas isn’t the same player he was upon arrival, and the same will apply to Kean. This team demands different contributions than he's used to, requiring time and effort. However, I’m very happy to have two excellent strikers,” Fabregas concluded.
